Flare up

Post by newpylori »

I was diagnosed with gastritis and bit of IM through endoscopy after eradication of HP. Was on PPI for a few weeks but stopped it about 3 months ago due to near normal condition.

But at times, like these last few days, symptoms such as burning feeling in stomach, bloat and fullness flare up. Although i can trace it to poor diet, and alcohol, at other times same diet doesn't affect much.

Is it advisable to resume PPI for free days in such cases or just control food intake and let it run course? Most of these flare ups last about 2-3 days.

You probably learnt what your stomach like and dislike. try to avoid food that will upset your stomach. Depending on the severity of the damage, some people can take months or years to recover. you can prepare some ranitidine with you. when it flares up, just take a few ranitidine tablets to calm it down.
