Hi Helico_expert,

Does propolis and other bee products affect accuracy of the stool test?

So if someone who tested positive before using propolis and then get negative result during propolis and honey treatment, does that mean that person is truly negative or false negative?

I would say yes, if you get a negative result after propolis and honey, it would mean you are free of H. pylori. To be absolutely definite, perhaps you want to wait 4 weeks, then do the test just to be sure that H. pylori is really gone.

Thank you. I'm asking because my friend's mom tested h.pylori negative twice after 40 days of propolis and honey intake, but her symptoms still persist. Before that she failed one triple and two quadruple treatments.

That's interesting to know.

1. perhaps it is true that the particular brand of propolis and honey has inhibitory effect on H. pylori. If that is the case, they will impact on the test result.

2. it is common to have to the symptoms persisting for a while as the wound will take time to heal. However, some damage can be permanent. If she is above 50 and had never done an endoscopy, she should organise one.

Could some brand of propolis and honey eradicate h.pylori?

from our record. natural products doesnt kill off H. pylori in vivo. It is because H. pylori hide deep in the tissue and the food ingredients are not able to reach it.

Antibiotics on the other hand get absorbed and as the H. pylori is extracting nutrients from the tissues, antibiotics get in and kill it.

Nevertheless, if you search hard enough in the forum, you'll find some members that claim that their recipe works. I guess there is always some lucky people that get it to work.

Hi Helico Expert

After going through my second antibiotics + PPI treatment in January I have gradually now come off omeprazole. I have been off PPI since 28 February

I now intend to do a stool test to see if the bacteria had cleared? Should I do a stool test or a breath test? Is there a difference in their relative accuracy?

The acidity symptoms had reduced a lot and I have been having some honey with black seed power in warm water every morning. Shoud i stop this before the test. I have not taken any ppi or h2 blocker since 28 February. Do I need to stop anything else before the test,?

Regards

A

the accuracy is fine for both stool and breath test. However, I prefer breath test as it is "less" technical in the laboratory and less likely to make a mistake.

Good luck to your coming up test. Has your symptoms improved after stopping PPI?
