Question on HP test

Post by LifeIsShort »

A year back i was declared HP positive via biopsy(endoscopy)..i took the triple therapy and i was fine...Now i felt like HP was back so i decided to test for it. I was tested via an igM blood test and the result was negative..The question is was this igM test reliable or should i do a stool test? P.S there are no breath test in my state.

IgM is normally tested for something that you recently acquired.
IgA or IgG should be the appropriate test.
Nevertheless, if you had H. pylori, you can have IgG for months or even years.
Therefore, blood test is never the test to check if you still have H. pylori.
Please get another test, either breath or stool test, to verify your infection.

You should still have blood tests or other tests to be able to evaluate more objectively

The reliability of different tests for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) can vary, and choosing the right test depends on several factors, including the type of test available and the clinical context.

If you want to know which test is best, you have to consider a number of things, such as the kind of test that is accessible and the clinical setting.

A stool antigen test is generally considered more accurate for detecting an active H. pylori infection post-treatment, as it checks for the presence of H. pylori directly in your digestive system.
