Hi,
I got diagnosed with H. pylori two weeks ago and was advised to do the 10 days pylera + PPI protocol.
Since then I did a lot of online research and came across supporting supplements that can improve the eradication success, prevent resistances and miscolonization. I now bought Pylopass (lactobacillus reuteri), NAC, Mastic Gum and a probiotic containing 23 different strains including lactobacillus casei/rhamnosus GG and Saccharomyces boulardii which seem to be effective against H. pylori.
My big question now is when to best take those supplements in addition to pylera (which is 4 times a day directly after meals).
What I found:
Mastic Gum: Instructions say 30 min before meals.
NAC: Intake between meals.
Pylopass: Instructions say "before meals" but not how long before.
Probiotics: In one study they applied probiotics two hours before/after pylora intake.
Any reason not to take these supplements during the pylera protocol?
Any suggestions/opinions regarding then to take the supplements considering the pylera protocol?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Pylora with Probiotics Protocol
I dont think there is any real advantage of taking before or after meal while you are on antibiotic treatment. After all, all the probiotics are going to be killed by the antibiotics. It would be scary if the probiotics become antibiotic resistant.
Nevertheless, some people believes that the probiotics themselves carry some anti-bacterial agents. So even if they died, they release their anti-bacterial agent to fight off bad germs.
In conclusion, if you feel better taking the probiotics, please continue on. If you dont feel any difference, then you can stop or change a brand.

Re: Pylora with Probiotics Protocol
Your supplement choices seem well-researched. Generally, taking supplements during the Pylera protocol is safe, but here’s a suggested schedule based on their typical recommendations:
Mastic Gum: 30 minutes before meals.
NAC: Between meals.
Pylopass: 30 minutes before meals.
Probiotics: Two hours before or after Pylera.
This schedule helps avoid interactions and maximize efficacy. Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice.
