H. Pylori PPI + Antibiotics Therapy - Dosing Questions

The cure of Hp usually requires antibiotics. Other things have been tried and have a weaker effect.

The standard PPI prescribed by GI specialists in conjunction with antibiotics for H. Pylori eradication in my area is Omeprazole. I have never been prescribed any other PPI to treat my infection!

Omeprazole, Lansoprazole, and Esomeprazole can all be purchased over-the-counter in the USA, but Pantoprazole and Rabeprazole require a prescription from a physician. This makes no sense to me!

According to the Cleveland Clinic, 40 mg Omeprazole = 20 mg Rabeprazole so your statement is correct. Here's a link to the newsletter article source: ... b06_i9.pdf

yea... all PPI works the same. They differ by the side chains.
because of that, everyone metabolised them differently.
rabeprazole is the "hardest" to metabolised.. which means it stays in your body longer.
apparently some people has a gene that can metabolise omeprazole quickly. So for these people, they will need to take even higher dose to maintain the drug concentration in the body.
