Hi Helico_Expert,

I completed my triple therapy about 3 weeks ago. I am now taking nexium 20mg daily for 6 months and liberax for IBS. I only take Liberax when i get IBS flare up symptoms like bloating etc.

I will now need to make an appointment with my physician to test if hpylori has been eradicated (UBT test)

My stomach seems to be behaving but i do get this raw pain in my upper stomach but no heart burn.

Should i request a endoscope or a UBT test ? its been 7 months since my last endoscope.

You should discuss with your doctor about your concern. Your doctor is the one who can physically examine you and is responsible for your well being.

I just had an endoscopy done on May 13th. The biopsy showed no h pylori is present. I took my 20mg of Pepcid the night before the endoscopy. Could this yield a false negative? Also, my gastro told me that my stomach acid was high. I asked what would cause that, but no straight answer! Frustrating! My biopsy also stated I have inactive chronic gastritis. What is that? The internet doesn't say much about it. I've been trying to take natural supplements for the gastritis vs over the counter antacid. But some days, I just want the discomfort to go away.

if there is no other abnormality reported in your endoscopy report, that's good news.

you can check for H. pylori presence by doing breath test, that is simple and non invasive.

Should I pursue a different test or take the biopsy results as true?

From your description, it seems like biopsy is true result. But of course, you can always confirm again with a non-invasive test. eg. Breath test.

Thank you! Can you tell me what inactive chronic vs active chronic gastritis is?

active chronic gastritis means the white blood cells are still gathering and looking for pathogen.

inactive chronic gastritis means the white blood cells cannot sense enemy and are retreating.

So it sounds like inactive chronic gastritis is better? You have been so helpful! The internet is very overwhelming.

yes, inactive chronic gastritis is better. if i see a pathology report like that, i would assume H. pylori is gone and the patient is in recovery state.
