Question about regimes

The most popular treatments consist of two antibiotics (one of which is usually clarithromycin) plus a strong acid blocker such as omeprazole (PriLosec, Nexium, Somac, Zoton, etc.). Treatment is for 7-10 days. Cure rate is about 85%

Since I have a possible, but not confirmed serious, allergy to penicillin the gastro doc wants me to try: Amoxcillin, Levofloxacin, pepto-bisol and Nexium for 10 days.

Is this a good cure? Also, I am allergic to tetracyclins, so yeah... i get red dots/rash after a few tabs. They are a bit itchy. But no other symptoms as far as I remember.

So the doc told me, if this doesn’t work they are out of options. Is this true? May desensitization to tectracycline be an option if this fails?

Plus, he also said if Amoxcillin didnt work b/c reaction I could do Metronidazole instead? :?
As a patient with a serious allergy to ampicillin and amoxicillin (however not penicillin!), I would encourage you to find a good experienced immunologist specifically with experience testing drug allergies to confirm if you have a true allergy vs. a more common medication rash as a side effect, as you may be using less effective treatment regimens unnecessarily if not truly allergic. If you are in fact allergic to an antibiotic, you can go through drug desensitization whereby you would be able to take the medication and would have no reaction for as long as you are taking the medication consistently; however once you stop taking it you automatically become allergic/sensitized to it again. I went through this procedure twice in order to take regimens with amoxicillin in them. It is a last resort, but for peace of mind you should seriously think about getting confirmation of either true allergy or non-allergy, as it could save your life one day.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have an appointment in mid august at the hospital. They will start the testing to see what I’m allergic to.

I definately have some weird reactions to Tetracycline. Even if I use topical creams I get a rash and start itching. Do you know if there is a desensitization protocol for Tetra in case that would be necessary? Thank you!

Try ask your doctor to give higher dose of Nexium (eg. 20mg BID) and Amoxicillin (eg. 1g TID).

My currrent regime is:

Amoxicillin (750 mg), three times a day
Levofloxacin (500 mg), two times a day
Pepto Bismol (262 mg), four times a day
Nexium (40 mg), two times a day

Do you know the success rate of this treatment? I have had biopsy and the bacteria was shown to be sensitive to Amox og Levo.

Hello :)

So, yea... a few hours ago I took the last four pills which concludes my treatment for now. I’m not gonna lie, this regime was way harder than the first, but I made it.

I have been extremely nauseous the last ten days, and had so many weird side-effects

So, what can I expect in the coming weeks. Also any tips regarding diet and stuff are welcome!?

My breath test is scheduled mid september.

The side effect should gradually go away.
meanwhile, you can take some probiotics to calm the symptoms.
You can try any natural herbs that you may find useful.

Thank you for a fast reply :)

I have a probiotic supplement called ‘Bio Dophilus Gold’.
The ingredients are as followed:
Content per recommended daily dose (1 capsule): Lactic acid bacteria 50 billion.

Ingredients: psyllium (Psyllii semen), capsule (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), L-arabinogalactans, Bacillus coagulans, Lactobacillus plantarum, Bifidus longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS-1), Lactobacillus reuteri bifidus bifidum, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidus breve, Lactobacillus paracasei, aloe vera extract (Aloe barbadensis), Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidus infantis, Bifidus lactis, Lactobacillus salivarius, Streptococcus thermophiles
What is your take on this?

Also, I had a follow-up appointment on Tuesday, and was told to stat on Nexium 40mg for two weeks.
