Re: 3yrs after H Pylori health issues- for Dr. Barry Marshal

Hi, If your sister's breath test is negative, there is no reason to believe that other H. pylori exist. It's a very slow growing bacteria and will take weeks for them to grow back. Then again, it depends how negative is your sister's UBT result. If it's below 50 dpm (c14) or 2% (c13), then I would s...

Re: is this normal?

six months is a bit too long for the confirmation. I think 4-6 weeks waiting period should be enough for the UBT.

about recovery, please be patience. it does take a while for some people to recover. if H. pylori is truly eradicated, then at least you have one factor less to worry about.

Re: ppi

you can stop PPI after treatment. However, if you are diagnosed with stomach ulcer, you will be asked to take PPI until it's healed. It can be as long as a few months. In some cases, people who takes aspirin daily in low dose to prevent heart disease or stroke, doctors may ask them to take PPI too. ...

Re: Quadruple Therapy

10 days treatment is usually enough. 14 days treatment is just to make sure it really kill the bugs. If your side effect is really bad, stop at least after 10 days. Side effects usually stop after you stop your treatment. during the recovery, just eat plenty of fruits and water. After antibiotic tre...

Re: is this normal?

agree. You'll need some time to recover from the damage done by H. pylori. also, you need at least 3 - 4 weeks without acid reducing agent (eg. PPI or any remedy) before UBT or stool test. You cannot use blood test to confirm the eradication because if you were infected by H. pylori before, you'll a...

Re: Quadruple Therapy

the side effects that you are having is common. you'll probably notice your stool being very dark too. that is because of bismuth. after all, you already completed 7 days treatment. make sure you finish the whole treatment. 10 days? or 14 days?

Re: Helicobacter aftermath

you probably are one of those unlucky one. My theory is, as antibiotic kills off H. pylori, they also kill off many other guts bacteria. The bad ones happened to dominate your guts before the good ones and hence lead to these unpredictable problems. Try plenty of fruits and gluten free food and see ...

Re: Gastric cancer and Hp genomics internal project

Despite a dramatic decline of infection rates in the developed world in the past 3-4 decades, it still colonizes roughly half of the world’s population.
this statement is half true. infection rate in developed world is less than 20%.
